I did something similar a few weeks or a month back. I played a straight that was one card too long 9 to Ace or 8 to Ace, and then picked up the Ace when I realized it was too long, thus allowing my partner to know where the 4th Ace was. The other team wasn't too happy about that later in the round when it became apparent that knowing where that final Ace was going to get my partner to make the Tichu call. We ended up giving them 10 points because of it, but that does bring to light a weakness in Tichu.

In the end, I should have left the Ace and picked up the 9 (or not made the mistake in the first place).

I know that wasn't much of a post. I was partially testing the program Blogo for blog posting. As infrequently as I've posted lately, I don't know if I want to pay the $25 for something that doesn't make it easy to include an image that's already on the web.

I could see using Blogo's ability to post to Ping.Fm though. That's what I use to simultaneously post to Facebook, Twitter, Rejaw, Myspace, etc.

Enjoyed your post. Glad the kids are big enough to play and WILL play. I think Eric and I played Jambo once this year and that was it. I play Bananagrams sometimes with my homeschool mom friends (though now Eric's back in school it's not often). Last week I taught them Coloretto and they liked it. I played a two-hour game of chess yesterday with a friend of Eric's (a draw). I miss the chess club days. And the board game days! I'm back to reading and music, mostly, with way too much spare time now that homeschooling is done. Keep enjoying your disc golf and family time, and maybe see you sometime .

Thanks Susan. I think I would probably enjoy Journey to the Center of the Earth (which I recently acquired) and Toledo too. We just played a game of Citadels with the family too. It's nice to get mileage out of the games as the family grows into them.

Very nice summary. We kinda thought that you had mostly abandoned gaming this past year but it looks like you've been playing a lot with your family which is great. We still miss you at our few and far-between game days, though :-)

My gaming has changed a lot over the past years as well. I guess that I need to make a summary blog post as well.

Re: disc golf.
When I was a kid, my brother and I would throw frisbees at the "holes" in our local park. I would like to get into disc golf, but I also wouldn't want to slow down any of you diehards. If you ever throw a casual game, I'd like to try it out sometime.

One tip, label your games. Every game that leaves our house has a label on the inside of the lid. It has our name, address, phone and e-mail. I use the 2" x 4" Avery labels that come in sheets of 10. I print out them out a sheet or two at a time and keep them on the game shelf. I check every game to make sure it has a label before we head out to game day.

Biggest word game hit for soccer /homeschool kids and parents: Bananagrams (like Pick Two only it's pick one and without letter values). People can't help joining in.

Favorite of the family: Quiddler, by far. We played with gamers last Monday and it wasn't as fun, too slow moving.
